Topic Drift
You post about everything, so nobody knows what to expect from you.
What it is
Monday is gardening. Tuesday is marketing. Wednesday is a thought about your grandkids. Each post is fine. Together, they're a puzzle nobody asked to solve.
People follow for a reason. If they can't name the reason, they don't follow. And the ones who do drift off when the next three posts aren't for them.
You don't have to become boring. You just need a lane, and a couple of side streets you visit on purpose.
Common symptoms
- You post whatever comes to mind that day.
- Some posts take off, then the next ones flop.
- Followers seem to come and go.
- You couldn't describe your account in five words.
Why it happens
Variety feels generous. But on Threads, the system and the reader both learn what you're about from repetition. Mixed signals mean neither one can match you with the right people.
Look at your last 15 posts. Sort them into piles by topic. If no single pile has more than half, you've got Topic Drift.
